I went up Monday evening after work for my interview the next morning at Queens' College, Cambridge. It was exhausting. I have just returned from my two day expedition with an unhappy but open mindset. The aim of the trip was to impress two members of staff and receive an offer to read mathematics. In that, I failed: I showed them, like last year, that I am still a disorganised gentleman who loses his composure when confused. They may have seen sparks of talent and their perceptions will become apparent when the results come out in about three weeks.
It is unfortunate but again, exactly like last year, an extremely useful learning experience. Meeting intelligent, sometimes unconventional, individuals is entertaining; I would like to socialise with new people a lot more and university will be a great opportunity to meet new friends and create some successful projects.
Results are posted early January and I look forward to having certainty about where I am going over the next few years. Similar to last year's interview, I will hopefully document some of my interview questions as a resource for future applicants.
