Revision strategy

I have never revised. Now is the time to change, before I fail some of my A-level exams! Chemistry and physics are far more difficult than mathematics which I find exceedingly easy. This article is a collection of revision techniques which I will use in the next two weeks — yes I am cramming and ashamed of it.

The most important factor in revision is concentration; take short breaks to let your mind relax and the information sink in. While learning a topic nothing else should be on your mind so the brain can concentrate on figuring out any difficult sections. To revise properly all you need is revision guides, paper, and a collection of coloured pens.

Steps to success

  • Condense notes from classes or books onto one side of A4, cutting down any unnecessary information
  • Use visual ways of showing information because the brain is far better at remembering colours and images than simple black text
  • Read anything extremely forgettable out loud every now and then and it will definitely stick in your head
  • Test yourself using past exam papers to find any problem topics and correct any misconceptions or gaps in your knowledge

I will tell you if these methods work when I get my results in August.
