Starting a new school

Starting again at a new school is a very daunting task, but starting to feel more comfortable now. It is difficult when you know no one in your year, and they have known each other for quite a few. However, the people are quite friendly, and the teaching is very good.

Physics, chemistry, maths and further maths suite me far better than biology, psychology (distance learning), and ICT — especially if I want to go for an undergraduate degree in either computer science, maths, physics or a combination of these. According to some of my friends my AS-level choices are a difficult combination — they do not realise that it is probably the easiest since they all interrelate more than other subjects.

It is also nice being around some really smart people, especially in maths. I’ve never really seen other people so adept at it. Hopefully, I’ll learn from my mistakes and work vigorously this year, spending less time on irrelevant projects. The environment is also far better, with a separate area for sixth-formers to work.
