Work experience with Injasuti

All lower-sixth students at The Ashcombe School have to participate in work experience in the week 17th—21st July. Luckily I found a placement at Injasuti, an information technology firm, creating websites, programming and doing all the other things that interest me.

New designMy task this week is to improve MSG recruitment, a South African recruitment agency, by adding database-driven content and totally rewriting the HTML to adhere to strict XHTML 1.0. I have completed the redesign, using some CSS wizardry, and am now working on the database schema using MySQL. I have found, during my few years creating websites, that databases take a long time to design properly as there are always so many factors involved — planning how all the tables will logically interrelate — but once a good schema is in place it is easy to optimise and perfect.
